Winter parking bans begin Friday
Many Upper Peninsula communities have winter parking bans, and some of those restrictions take effect for the season on Friday. Iron Mountain and Kingsford are two of those communities where restrictions are about to begin.
The Iron Mountain Police Department wants to remind residents that their parking ban lasts from this Friday through April 30th. Kingsford Public Safety says their ban is in effect from this Friday through March 31st. Vehicles cannot be parked on streets, in alleys or in any city-owned parking lots between 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. Central time.
Both law enforcement agencies say they won’t enforce the parking ban until the first measurable snowfall that requires plows to be called out.
Ishpeming’s winter parking ban will last from this Friday until April 30th and is in effect from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. each day. Marquette’s ban is in effect from 1:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. every day from this Friday through March 31st.
