Houghton City Manager search underway
The City of Houghton could see a new city manager selected by early December and on the job in February. Mayor Bob Backon said at the council meeting Wednesday night that a selection committee will begin work soon to decide who will replace longtime manager Scott MacInnes. MacInnes announced his retirement at a recent meeting. Backon said that no less than four cities in the Upper Peninsula are looking to fill city manager positions this year.
At the meeting, it was announced that Houghton has been recognized as a Silver Level Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists. Houghton is one of just two cities in Michigan to attain that level and is the only one in the Upper Peninsula.
