Meth components found in traffic stop
Two subjects are in police custody tonight after a traffic stop in Ely Township uncovered meth lab components inside their vehicle.
It was part of an investigation by the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team. Members from their unit worked in concert with Troopers from the Negaunee Post of the Michigan State Police to initiate a traffic stop on County Road 496 near County Road CKH in Ely Township. A 29-year-old female and a 20-year-old male were arrested at the scene for Possession of Methamphetamine Components and Conspiracy to Manufacture Methamphetamine. The male subject was also arrested on two outstanding warrants out of Delta County. U.P.S.E.T. Certified Meth Responders separated all of the components inside the vehicle and placed them in approved containers for disposal. The Marquette County Sheriff’s Department also assisted at the scene.
