U.P. man pleads not guilty to Louisiana murder
An Upper Peninsula man charged with murder in Baton Rouge, Louisiana pleaded not guilty at his arraignment today.
Nineteen-year-old Mason Chiapuzio of Ironwood Township pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the 19th Judicial District Court in the Parish of East Baton Rouge.
Chiapuzio and three other suspects are accused of being involved in the shooting death of a Baton Rouge man in April 2012.
Chiapuzio fled to the Upper Peninsula this spring and was arrested in Ontonagon County. He was extradited back to Louisiana in August.
He has been assigned an attorney, and he’ll have a scheduling conference in Baton Rouge on October 7th.
