Citizens concered about drainage problems
Citizens of Negaunee are concerned about drainage issues on Maas Street.
They are planning on bringing up the issue at the Negaunee City Council meeting Thursday night.
Residents say their basements have flooded due to drainage issues behind Fox Negaunee. They say a pond behind the car dealership has created drainage problems for years, and they want the city to do something about the problem.
Negaunee City Manager Jeff Thornton said the city plans to put new drains under Maas Street. He said it may not fix the problem completely but the drainage would be better.
The Planning Commission saw a site plan and it was approved a few months ago.
Thornton said the city hopes to put new drains in this fall so the drainage problems will not happen again after the spring run–off.
The City Council meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the Negaunee Senior Center.
