Vandal waives prelim exam
A Marquette man will return to court next week in connection with dozens of reports of vandalism.
Alexander Watanen, 25, waived his right to have a preliminary exam in Marquette County District Court. His case has been bound over to Circuit Court, where he will be arraigned August 9.
Watanen is charged with one count of Assaulting, Resisting or Obstructing an Officer, two counts of Malicious Destruction of Personal Property worth less than $200, and one count of Malicious Destruction of a Building worth less than $200.
He is free on a $12,500 bond.
Watanen is accused of writing the word ‘gerko’ on dozens of dumpsters, signs, and buildings in the City of Marquette and Marquette Township.
