Cemetery theft suspect in custody

A suspect believed to be responsible for stealing numerous grave site decorations from a cemetery in Crystal Falls is now in custody.

The Iron County Sheriff’s Office is still investigation the string of thefts at the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, although they now believe they have identified the culprit after recovering numerous items from the suspect’s Crystal Falls residence. Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, the identity of the suspect will not be released until they are charged and arraigned in the Iron County Trial Court.

Deputies have only been able to identify two parties affected by the theft, while numerous items remain unidentified and unconnected to a victim. Anyone who has experienced theft from a gravesite at the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Crystal Falls are asked to call the Iron County Sheriff’s Office at 906-875-0650 and schedule an appointment to view the unidentified property.
