Jail sentence in jewelry theft case
A Gwinn man is spending a year in jail for his role in robbing an elderly woman of her jewelry.
Thirty-four-year-old Jason Bennett has been sentenced in Marquette County Circuit Court.
He’s been given credit for more than two months that he’s already served.
Bennett pleaded guilty to receiving and concealing stolen property worth $200 to $1,000.
His co-defendant, 25-year-old Christina Koskela, has a Circuit Court pre-trial conference scheduled for November 18th.
She’ll go to trial on December 9th.
The Marquette Police arrested them in Gwinn in mid-April after a two-month investigation.
Police say Koskela’s 75-year-old grandmother was the victim of the jewelry theft.
