3rd annual Celebrity Beacon House Golf Classic
The third annual Celebrity Beacon House Golf Classic hit the links today in a fundraising effort for the Beacon House. Celebrities and their partners took to the course for a day of good–natured competition and fundraising. The teams spent the day playing the Greywalls and Heritage golf courses. About five–dozen celebrities, including musicians and athletes turned out for the tournament – and more importantly for the cause.
“Steve and Mary have done a great job with the event and all of the people up here I think it’s a phenomenal,” Michigan State Men’s Basketball coach Tom Izzo said. “The cause is phenomenal you know, and I’ve been over to the house and it’s one of those things that you hope you never need, but all of us are going to need it sooner or later. It really makes things better, so I’m happy to be a very small part of it.”
“When you have a family that’s in trouble and its going through a sickness or an illness and to be able to give them an opportunity and a place to stay and feel comfortable, and to have some type of normalcy. I mean that’s special,” Arizona Cardinals Kicker Jay Feely said.
“It’s great, especially going to the Beacon House last night; we had a little rundown of what they do and how they support people who are in need of having a room. And just being there and to come out, and so many great people come out to this event. It’s fun to do every year,” former NHL player Randy McKay said.
“You come to this event you’re family and that’s the way they treat everybody, and that’s the way I feel when I show up,” Charity Gold International Owner Bobby Bradley said, “Like I said, I put this one on the calendar every single year, and I look forward to being here. We do raise a lot of money, and this is just a huge successful event all way around the board.”
All of the funds raised at the tournament will be used to help pay the Beacon Houses’ operational costs. Last year they raised over $108,000.
