Serious accident in Gogebic Co.

The Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an accident that occurred this morning at the intersection of US-2 and Country Club Road at approximately 10:50 a.m.

According to police, the initial investigation reveals that a vehicle traveling westbound on US-2 turned south in front of a second vehicle traveling eastbound.

Both drivers and one passenger were transported to Aspirus Grandview Hospital by Beacon Ambulance.  One driver had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Ironwood Township Fire Department using the Jaws of Life.  That individual was later transferred to Duluth via Life Flight Helicopter.

Officers were assisted at the scene by the Ironwood Public Safety Department.
