Oasis break-in suspect pleads guilty
One of the two suspects involved in the April 28th Shingleton Oasis Gas Station break-in has pled not guilty.
Seventeen-year-old Brandon Monroe of Shingleton is now on a 12-month Holmes Youth Trainee Act (HYTA) probationary period after reaching a plea agreement with the Alger County Prosecutor’s Office in Circuit Court. Monroe will have his filed sealed and taken off of public record if he can stay out of trouble for one year. An official sentencing is scheduled for August 16th at 10 a.m.
The other suspect in the incident, eighteen-year-old Ruben Sifuentes of Munising, went a different route. Sifuentes’ lawyer filed a waiver for a not guilty plea. Due to the fact that he is 18, Sifuentes does not qualify for HYTA probation. His pretrial date is slated for July 15th at 10:30 a.m.
