MI House votes to expand Medicare
The Michigan House of Representatives has voted to expand Medicare coverage in the state.
The expansion bill passed late tonight by a 76-31 vote in the House.
The bill would open the government health insurance program to more than 400,000 additional low-income adults.
Marquette State Representative John Kivela also said in a Facebook post tonight announcing the bill’s approval that it would save Michigan taxpayers more than $200 million per year.
The bill now heads to the state Senate.
Governor Rick Snyder has said he wants the bill approved before lawmakers break for the summer, which could happen as soon as the end of next week.
