Ish. church hosts sports camp
Tuesday was a perfect day for kids to get outside and enjoy outdoor activities.
The Good News Assembly of God in Ishpeming is hosting the 7th annual Mega Sports Camp this week.
The camp offers physical activities for boys and girls who have graduated from kindergarten, up to those who are in fifth grade.
“We feel like if we can get the kids to interact on the sports field and play with each other and their adult coaches and develop relationships with each other–and the coaches–we can mentor them and teach them things they can use for the rest of their life,” Co-Director of the Camp Tim Lutey said.
Registration is still open, and it costs $10. Shirts and snacks are provided to those who participate.
Mega Sports Camp starts around 9:00 a.m. and runs through noon every day this week until Friday. Plus, there is a Father’s Day celebration on Sunday.
“We’re going to have a pig roast, and a family day that incorporates dads and kids and sports,” Lutey said. “We have drawing’s too. We’re going to have drawings for a Matthews bow and a kayak for the kids.”
More than 70 volunteers, from coaches to teenagers, come together each year to make the event a great success.
