Gwinn man arrested for fatal crash
A Gwinn man is facing six felony counts from a fatal accident in Gladstone.
Twenty-four-year-old Harley Durocher is charged with two counts of operating with a suspended license causing death, two counts of reckless driving causing death and two counts of operating under the influence of a controlled substance causing death.
The Delta County Prosecutor’s Office says Durocher will be arraigned in Delta County District Court this morning.
He’s accused of running a red light at the intersection of US-2 and 41 and South Hill Road in Gladstone on March 20th.
Gladstone Public Safety says he was driving a semi for LJ Roberto Logging of Gwinn, and they say he hit a vehicle driven by 73-year-old Thomas Swift of Escanaba.
Swift died at the scene, and his wife, 73-year-old Barbara Swift, died of her injuries several days later.
The impact pushed the Swifts’ vehicle into another vehicle, driven by 72-year-old Joyce Scheriff of Gladstone.
She was treated at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba and released.
