WASHINGTON – Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, issued the following statement on Memorial Day:
“Today, in communities from coast to coast, Americans gather for picnics, barbecues, ballgames and parades. They are able to do so thanks to men and women who have been willing, since our nation’s founding, to offer their ‘last full measure of devotion’ to keep America safe and free. As we celebrate Memorial Day, I hope all of us will take the time to offer our thanks to those who have sacrificed so much for our country, and those who defend us today.”
