Manistique Elks lead MI in fundraising
The Manistique Elks Lodge has recently been recognized as the most charitable lodge in the state.
The lodge placed first in Michigan in donations to the Elks National Foundation fundraising campaign with an average of $16.09 donated by every member. The Negaunee Elks finished second, with an average of $10.66 donated per member.
The co-chair of the national campaign told Manistique lodge members that without their efforts, the Michigan state association would not have met its statewide goal.
The Elks National Foundation programs include the largest private scholarship program in the country, the Hoop Shoot, drug awareness programs and many veterans programs.
In the last three years, the Manistique Elks have now finished first, second and first in the state in the fundraising campaign.
Lodge members learned about the outcome at an initiation ceremony for four new members.
