Guilty plea in jewelry theft
A Gwinn man has pleaded guilty to his role in robbing an elderly woman of her jewelry.
Thirty-four-year-old Jason Bennett has pleaded guilty to receiving and concealing stolen property worth $200 to $1,000.
In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors dismissed a conspiracy to commit larceny in a building charge.
Bennett will receive his sentence on July 1st.
His co-defendant, 25-year-old Christina Koskela, has a circuit court scheduling conference next Thursday, May 16th.
The Marquette Police arrested them in Gwinn in mid-April after a two-month investigation.
Police say the victim of the jewelry theft is Koskela’s 75-year-old grandmother.
