Air Force Band plays for Honor Flight
The U.P. veterans on the Honor Flight trip were treated to a concert by the U.S. Air Force Band this afternoon.
And residents here in the U.P. were able to watch the concert, too.
The Peter White Public Library in Marquette held a viewing party.
The band played favorites by Bing Crosby and Glenn Miller, as well as “The Midway March” by John Williams, from the 1970’s movie “Midway”.
“The concert is a webcast, so people at home can see it on their individual computers. We just thought that some may not have a computer available, so we’re making this available here,” Honor Flight volunteer Dewey Jones said. “It gives the community a chance to come out and get a glimpse of the Honor Flight. You’d be particularly interested if you had a family member on the flight, but it’s good to see anyway.”
There were also viewing parties at Bay College in Escanaba and Bay College West in Iron Mountain.
