Fast food celebrates Earth Day
McDonald’s restaurants across the U.P. are celebrating Earth Day today by giving customers free vegetable seed packets. Each participating McDonald’s location will hand out 500 seed packets to customers.
McDonald’s representatives say the company has an ongoing commitment to sustainability. They say napkins, carry-out bags and sandwich containers are largely comprised of recycled product and that 70% of US McDonald’s locations recycle cooking oil.

According to the company, McDonald’s USA, LLC, serves more than 25 million customers day. Nearly 90 percent of McDonald’s 14,000 U.S. restaurants are independently owned and operated by local businessmen and women.
