U.P. woman recognized for childcare
An Upper Michigan woman is been recognized as an educational hero.
Amy Ahola has been running her own daycare business since 2005. She upgraded to a group daycare over the summer that allows her to take in 12 kids at a time. Her husband, Allen, also helps with the daycare.
Ahola initially wanted to be a teacher, but eventually decided daycare was a better fit.
In addition to running the daycare, Ahola does training for other child care providers, runs an online blog, and a website. She has been recognized by Microsoft as one of the “365 Heroes in Education.” Ahola was the first, and so far the only, early childhood educator chosen to be highlighted on Microsoft’s website.
Her blog focuses on some of the challenges and triumphs of working in a home daycare with children.
