Deputies checking for violations on snowmobiles
In the last few weeks, there’s been more spring–like temperatures, and that means snowmobile season has a limited lifespan.
There are some violations snowmobile deputies are watching for on the trails, that could end up getting a driver ticketed.
Deputies from the Schoolcraft County Sheriff’s Department Special Operations Division go on snowmobile patrol to make sure riders and being safe, and are not committing any violations.
They also look for trail permits and proper snowmobile registration. They check roughly 700 snowmobiles per weekend; they say most people are in compliance.
The department has three snowmobiles they use on patrols to monitor trails.
Deputies add one thing people should do to make sure they are in compliance is to read snowmobile safety and snowmobile laws.
