U.P. troops arrive home after long deployment
A group of soldiers is back home in Upper Michigan this afternoon after nearly a year-long mission…bound for Dickinson County.
Nearly 100 National Guard soldiers from the 1432nd Engineering Company in Kingsford arrived at Sawyer International Airport this afternoon. The soldiers are returning home after a 10-month deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
The soldiers loaded onto busses and are headed to Dickinson County for a welcome home ceremony at the Kingsford High School later this afternoon. The soldiers’ convoy is being escorted by the Patriot Guard Riders and local law enforcement agencies.
ABC 10’s Mike Hoey is at Sawyer and will have an update on the troop arrival tonight at 5:30 on ABC 10 News Now.
