Man pleads no contest in home invasion

Douglas Fitzpatrick, 26, pleaded no contest in Marquette County Circuit Court to one count of third degree home invasion Friday

The Marquette resident was arrested on February 18 for breaking into a residence on the 500 block of W. Washington Street in Marquette.

The Marquette City Police say the investigation showed that Fitzpatrick had been at the victim’s house visiting with the victim on January 14.

The victim left the residence, told Fitzpatrick he needed to leave and complied.

The victim returned to his residence after a short time and noticed the residence had been broken into and items were stolen.

Officers say Fitzpatrick had discussed the crime with several people prior to the incident.

Fitzpatrick has a sentencing date on April 26.
