Female armed robbery suspect in custody
The downstate woman charged in last week’s Alger County home invasion and armed robbery is in custody in the U.P.
Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post say she is 20-year-old Samantha Jo Menery of Bay City.
She’s charged with first-degree home invasion and armed robbery.
Menery is being held in the Alger County Jail on $100,000 bond.
She and 29-year-old Richard Anthony VanPelt of Bay City are accused of attacking and robbing 19-year-old Allen Miron at a home in Au Train Township on March 12th.
VanPelt is also in the Alger County Jail on $100,000 bond.
He’s charged with first-degree home invasion, assault with intent to commit great bodily harm less than murder, armed robbery and unlawful imprisonment.
VanPelt and Menery were arraigned Thursday morning in 93rd District Court in Munising.
Both have preliminary exams scheduled for Tuesday, March 26th.
