Bulletproof vests for K9 units
K9 units in Marquette County are gaining another crime fighting tool to help keep them safe.
Marquette City Police have recently received grants to purchases bulletproof vest for their K9 units through a non–profit group.
Marquette County Central Dispatcher Lori Fries brought the grant to their attention. The non–profit group K9s, Inc, ranked the dogs on several different factors. Marquette Police recently learned that both department dogs Frodo and Skud qualified for the grant.
The vests are manufactured by the same Michigan company that provides the current vests for the department. The Marquette County Sheriff’s Department dog also qualified for the grant.
