Volunteers needed for MDA summer camp
Individuals who want to be volunteer counselors and medical staff to care for youngsters with muscular dystrophy and related diseases at summer camp.
Volunteer counselors must be at least 16 years old. Campers’ ages range from 6 to 17. Each counselor is a companion to an MDA camper, helping them with camp activities (swimming, sports, horseback riding, arts & crafts, etc.) and day-to-day activities (eating, bathing and dressing).
Additionally, MDA is seeking physicians, nurses, emergency medical technicians, physical therapists and other medical professionals to be volunteers for the camp’s medical staff. Medical staff will supervise and maintain the health and well-being of all camp participants.
More than 4,300 volunteers are needed nationally to help provide some 3,500 campers with an unforgettable week at MDA summer camp. To volunteer at a camp for U.P. children, or to learn more about summer camp, contact an MDA office by visiting mda.org/locate.
Now through the summer, there will be nearly 80 MDA summer camps throughout the United States.
