Health care reform discussion in Marquette
Two Upper Peninsula doctors gave a presentation about the country’s health care Thursday night.
Doctors Terry Frankovitch and Kevin Piggott gave a broad overview of health care reform to a small group people at the Federated Women’s Club House in Marquette. The presentation was sponsored by the Marquette Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW).
Dr. Frankovitch discussed how the U.S. compares to sixteen other developed countries in heath care categories, like lifespan, homicide, birthrate and infant mortality rate. She said that while the country leads in some categories, the U.S. is behind on other categories because the other sixteen countries have main gains in their health care.
With so much information in the Affordable Care Act, Dr. Piggott said it is hard to go over everything in such a short amount of time.
There was also discussion about what provisions will soon go into affect in 2014 due to the Affordable Care Act, and what provisions are already in place.
