‘Dancing with the Stars’ coming to Marquette
The Upper Peninsula Hospice Foundation is hosted a launch party for a spring fundraiser: their own version of “Dancing with the Stars”.
Eight pairs local community leaders were chosen to participate in the event that takes place in May. The U.P. Hospice Foundation took the idea from the Eastern U.P. Hospice that did a “Dancing with the Stars” event last year.
Each dancing couple was given a type of dance, like the waltz, tango or foxtrot. They were paired with a dance professional that will teach them the dance over the course of two months. The winning dance team will be awarded the Mirror Ball Trophy, and there will also be a Fan Favorite Award. Dance teams will be judged on the number of votes received and criteria from judges such as audience engagement and chemistry with dance partners.
People will be able to vote for their favorite dance couple from March 11 to May 22. It’s $10 for each vote cast for the couples, and votes can be cast at www.uphomehealth.org. The “Dancing with the Stars Marquette County Style” will take place on Thursday, May 23 at the Forest Roberts Theater.
