New COO named to Marquette Co. Community Foundation
Gail M. Anthony has accepted the position of Chief Operating Officer of the Marquette County Community Foundation. She will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the foundation and provide leadership in working with the MCCF’s Board of Trustees and donors. The Marquette County Community Foundation and its affiliate funds encourage philanthropic investment in the future of the area by attracting permanent endowment funds from a wide range of donors to provide charitable grants that enhance the quality of life in Marquette County.
Gail was raised in the Keweenaw, and holds a Liberal Study Associate’s and a Political Science Bachelor’s degree from NMU. Her diverse service background began with eight years employment at financial institutions including the 1st National Bank of Calumet and Houghton National Bank. Relocating to Marquette in 1985, she began 18 years of employment in various positions at Northern Michigan University. Her most recent positions were as an Administrative Professional in Institutional Research, and in Finance and Planning.
In 2003, she founded Creative Computer Concepts, an electronic imaging business. In 2005, she began working for Centrup Hospitality as the General Manager for the Country Inn & Suites in Marquette. Under her tenure, the hotel has received numerous awards including 2009 Hotel of the Year for all Country Inn & Suites worldwide and the Global Hospitality Award for being one of four top hotels for the entire Carlson Brand. In 2011 she was named Hotelier of the Year for the State of Michigan by the Michigan Lodging and Tourism Association.
Currently, Gail serves on the UP Catholic Credit Union Board, Finance Council for St. Michael’s Church and is a 3rd year mentor for NMU’s Student Leader Fellowship program. She is a past vice president of the Marquette Country Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Marquette Township Business Association. She has also served in varied capacities with Marquette Senior High School Sports Boosters, Little League, and Marquette Mountain Racing Team while her children were involved.
The Marquette County Community Foundation has an office suite in the Lakeview Arena and is open 9-5 Monday through Friday.
