Winter weather hits Upper Michigan
Blowing snow and poor visibility have made for a treacherous day of travel for Upper Michigan residents. This latest bout of winter weather has created very dangerous driving conditions.
Law enforcement agencies across the U.P. have been urging drivers to take their time and only travel if it is necessary.
The National Weather Service in Negaunee Township says, expect visibility on the roads to only be at a distance of about a quarter of a mile.
Snow will continue to fall throughout the evening into the night, however the snowfall is not why conditions are so dangerous.
The winter storm gave some students across the U.P. a snow day.
In addition utility companies across Upper Michigan have reported power outages throughout the day. UPPCO is expecting scattered power outages as long as the blustery conditions continue.
