Marquette hosts first Downtown Showdown
The streets of Downtown Marquette will be covered with snow this weekend as Marquette hosts its first ski and rail jam competition. The 100 block of Washington Street will serve as the location for the competition and competitors and fans alike with be will gathered less than 100 feet from Lake Superior, making a scenic and unique location.
The Compound Ski and Snowboard Shop is partnering with the Downtown Development Authority and the Marquette County Convention and Visitors Bureau to bring the excitement of the ski hill to the historic streets of Marquette in the form of 6 snow covered rails with the ending jump over an ambulance.
Fans can gather at the Indoor Winter Expo, which will be featured in The Waterfront. Food and drinks are available to purchase and a Double Trouble DJ’s will be onsite mixing music and announcing the event.
Athletes will be competing in two sections, a Skier Rail Jam at 6 pm, Snowboarder Rail Jam at 7 pm and the Ski and Board Finals held under the lights at 8pm.
Head inside The Waterfront at 9 pm for the after party and awards ceremony where riders will be presented with cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and lots of other prizes.
