Unarmed robbery in Caspian
An Iron River man is in police custody after he reportedly robbed a convenience store.
Iron County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched Sunday, January 27, at 6:19 p.m. to a report of a robbery in the city of Caspian.
Police were told that an individual, later identified as Michael Beauchamp, age 22, from Iron River, had forcefully stolen items from the clerk at the Citgo store in Caspian. As the suspect was leaving the scene, he was tackled and detained by two customers who were in the store.
Beauchamp was held on the ground until an Iron River Police Department Officer arrived and placed him in hand cuffs. The suspect was taken into custody by the Iron County Sheriff Department and was lodged in the Iron County Jail.
He was arraigned Monday, January 28 in the 95th District Court in Iron County on charges of unarmed robbery and resisting and opposing a law enforcement officer.
Beauchamp, on parole from the Michigan Department of Corrections at the time of the incident, remains in the Iron County Jail with a $20,000 cash bond.
