McBroom named to four House committees
State Rep. Ed McBroom has been appointed to four House committees for the 2013-14 legislative session.
McBroom, of Vulcan, will serve as vice chair of the House Regulatory Reform Committee, a panel he was a member of last term. He also returns to the agriculture committee, as well, and his new assignments this session include the Criminal Justice and Natural Resources panels.
“The Legislature last session accomplished a good number of reforms to help build a better job creation environment for Michigan and there’s more to do, so I’m pleased to have a leadership role on the regulatory committee as those discussions unfold,” McBroom said. “I’m looking forward to using the knowledge and experience I gained last year to continue working on issues that will keep making Michigan great, and the Upper Peninsula even greater.”
The House has 23 bipartisan committees that discuss, analyze and revise legislation before presenting it to the full chamber for action. Through committee review of a bill, lawmakers decide whether to recommend, amend or substitute legislation.
