Students showcase community involvement
Several of the Copper Country’s finest students were the focus of a fundraiser held in Houghton. The Pure Gold dinner at Michigan Tech benefits the Keweenaw Community Foundation.
This year, the event featured youth involvement in the community. Students from the Youth Advisory Council, the Health Occupation Students of America, and the Lake Superior Stewardship Initiative each gave a presentation.
The Youth Advisory Council is currently accepting applications for grants for local projects. The students then decide where the money would be best spent to help the community.
The deadline for applying for a grant for a community project is February 12th.
