Snowmobile accident on Lake Gogebic
One man was taken to the hospital after a snowmobile accident on Lake Gogebic Friday afternoon.
Troopers from the Michigan State Police-Wakefield Post, say the accident happened at around 4:30 Eastern time in Bergland Township in Ontonagon County.
A 35-year-old man from Iowa was traveling on his snowmobile southbound on the lake when he hit an ice heave. Witnesses said the man flew ten feet in the air, and was separated from his snowmobile. He fell hard on the ice and was unconscious for a few minutes at the scene.
The man was transported to Aspirus Grand View Hospital for the treatment of unknown injuries.
Sonoco Ambulance, Beacon Ambulance, and the Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Department with a rescue sled also responded at the scene.
