Man arrested on possesion of marijuana

A man is in the Marquette County Jail after a brief struggle with police and a short foot chase.

Marquette City Police say John Robert Okesson was arrested on charges of resisting and obstructing, and possession of marijuana.  The incident started around 9:30 p.m. Thursday night on the 800 lock of Preserve Drive after a report about someone in possession of marijuana.

Okesson struggled with officers and fled on foot.  Police used a tazer at one point during the struggle.  The chase with the police continued and the Marquette K-9 unit was called in.  Okesson ran into the woods and he eventually surrendered.

Police found six bags of marijuana that Okesson had allegedly hidden in the woods during the chase.  He is being held in the Marquette County Jail.
