Charter helps business connections
Charter Business, the commercial services division of Charter Communications, will construct a fiber-optic Wide Area Network (WAN) for Lasco, a leading provider of Information Technology (IT) services to financial institutions throughout the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Utilization of the new network will provide Lasco and its bank clients with dramatically increased bandwidth – allowing a more efficient operation and offering the potential to provide additional bandwidth for future needs.
Lasco currently supports fifteen community banks and dozens of businesses throughout the U.P. The new WAN will allow Lasco to expand IT services to 59 financial client locations.
Lasco’s data processing division, which began operations in 1969, is an Information Technology service bureau specializing in bank processing, network maintenance and management, security, and other business applications.
“Establishing a WAN for Lasco’s use helps them continue to provide cutting edge banking services in communities throughout the Upper Peninsula,” said Sean Hayes, Vice President of Regional Field Operations for Charter, and a Munising resident. “A network such as this benefits and strengthens the business community in the U.P.”
Charter Business provides fiber-optic WAN and Internet services to dozens of financial institutions, medical facilities, schools, local governments and other businesses throughout the Upper Peninsula.
The launch of the new Lasco network provided by Charter Business is scheduled for early 2013.
