Group launches first fundraiser
The first Love INC CUP fundraising event will be a live and silent auction Thursday featuring donated items and services from partners and supports of the project.
Money raised from the event will help defray start-up costs needed to launch a Love INC affiliate in the Central Upper Peninsula. Love INC affiliates are non-denominational, and serve their local community’s churches, helping the church mobilize their congregants to serve as in the community. Love INC affiliates, through the church volunteers, serve anyone with a manageable need in their service area.
Fundraising and donations are needed to start office and communications set-up, plan and promote the kick-off event and other related costs, which needs to be raised by the spring of 2013.
More than 60 items have been donated for the auction so far: a three-day getaway at a timber-framed camp on the Yellow Dog River ($300 value), a chartered fishing trip on Lake Superior ($500 value), a Yukon snowshoe package, dozens of homemade baked goods, handmade items, themed baskets and more.
The event will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 6 in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Negaunee.Food and refreshments will be provided.
