Rescue successful at Upper Harbor Breakwall
Three people have been safely rescued from the breakwall at Marquette’s Upper Harbor.
The U. S. Coast Guard tells ABC 10 that the trio was in a boat when the weather turned on them. The three ended up on the rocks at the far end of the breakwall Saturday afternoon.
A 45 foot boat from Coast Guard Station Marquette was launched, but could not get close enough to the three to make a rescue. An inflatable boat was then used to reach the victims.
Covered with blankets, the three were brought ashore by about 4:30 p.m.
Additional details on the incident will be posted as they become available. ABC 10’s Jake Taylor is at the scene and will file a complete online report this evening, with a broadcast news story on the incident scheduled to air Monday at 6:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
