P2K Youth Rally in Marquette
The Diocese of Marquette’s high school youth rally, called P2K, which occurs every other year, is taking place this weekend in Marquette. 141 youth and 43 adults from around the U.P. are registered to attend.
The rally opens this Friday, Oct. 26, at 8 p.m. at St. Peter Cathedral with Bishop Sample greeting the youth by way of Facetime. The activities featuring Josh Blakesley will be composed of talks and live music by Josh. He is a contemporary Catholic musician from Alexandria, Louisiana.
A new activity this year involves the youth participating in the traditional Lenten practice known as the “Stations of the Cross” outside at Holy Cross Cemetery. The stations are interspersed throughout the cemetery.
Another unique activity involves the Year of Faith that began on October 11. On Sunday, October 28, at 11:45 a.m., the youth will process with Bishop Sample from Father Marquette Elementary School to St. Peter Cathedral, where Bishop Sample will plant a Year of Faith cross outside, in front of the cathedral’s gathering space. Bishop Sample planted crosses at the opening Masses for the Year of Faith Oct. 20 and 21 in Copper Harbor, Menominee, Ironwood and Drummond Island. Now it’s Marquette’s turn. This is the fifth and final cross to be planted.
