M-94 in Manistique open to traffic a week early
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has reopened M-94 to traffic in Manistique, removing the detour about a week ahead of schedule.
MDOT reconstructed M-94 through the city from Fifth Street to Chippewa Avenue. Total cost for the project was about $4.2 million, of which $1.2 million was MDOT’s portion. Some minor work and clean-up will finish up in the next few weeks.
As part of the project, the city also upgraded portions of its water main and sanitary sewer system in the construction area.
The project required multiple detours on city streets during construction, beginning in May. MDOT and the contractor for the project, Hebert Construction of Iron River, maintained access to downtown businesses throughout construction.
