Rotary Vino at the Casino planed in Delta Co.
Twenty-one wines have been selected for the 10th annual Escanaba Rotary Vino at the Casino event at the Island Resort and Casino.
The event will take place Saturday, Nov. 3. The event is scheduled to begin promptly at 7 p.m. and conclude at 9:30 p.m. Bink’s Wines and Beverages is wine sponsor of the event.
To help celebrate the 10th annual event, a special raffle will feature a free weekend visit to a Traverse City winery, including overnight stay, a dinner and gas cards.
The ticket price includes a variety of quality wines available at several tasting tables and fantastic hors d’oeuvres, according to Rotary wine tasting committee chair Cheryl Ohman.
The club will continue pours of premium wine available at a nominal additional cost for those who want to sample extremely high-end wines.
“This is a great opportunity for local residents to taste test some very nice wines without have to take a chance on an entire bottle. People just love this event. They enjoy the tasting, the hors d’oeuvres, but especially the company. It’s a very fun, social event,” Ohman said.
Ohman says a number of prizes will also be featured in a silent auction or raffles, including a home wine tasting provided by Bink’s personnel, fine jewelry, and a wine basket featuring bottles of wine at the tasting.
Wines provided at the tasting will also be available to purchase and many can be found on local store shelves the week after the event.
“This event is perfect for new wine enthusiasts and connoisseurs alike. It’s a fun get-together for all types of wine lovers,” Ohman said.
Proceeds are used to help fund local Rotary programs and charitable giving throughout the year, including its exchange student program, its Camp Harstad summer day camp in Ford River, annual Christmas lunch and gifts for children facing special challenges, and scholarships.
No tickets will be available at the door to insure there’s enough tasting and hors d’oeuvres to go around. Ohman said tickets are selling fast for the event, which usually sells out. Tickets are $35 and are available at the YMCA of Delta County, Gust Asp’s or from any Escanaba Rotarian.
