Marquette Twp. Facilities Project
Marquette Township is preparing to move its township hall, Fire Department and Public Works Department.
Residents had a chance to learn more about it tonight at an open house.
A new township hall and fire hall will both be built soon on Commerce drive, North of US–41.
Most township residents also live north of 41, so township planner Jason McCarthy says the new hall will be more accessible than the current one, which is south of the highway on County Road 492.
He says it’ll also help to have the fire hall closer to the section of the township where most of its calls come from, as well as to have all of the township’s services located within a quarter-mile radius.
The Public Works Department will then move into the current fire hall on Vandenboom Avenue.
The township is not asking for any tax money to accomplish this.
The project should cost a total of $3.9 million.
It’ll begin later this year and it should be complete late next summer.
