Lake Bancroft October Fundraisers
The group of Ishpeming-area residents raising money to restore Lake Bancroft will be very visible in October.
The Lake Bancroft Committee is trying to restore the lake to the condition it was in back in the 1930s, before the only stream leading into the lake was blocked off and sediment began building up.
The group is holding a dinner theater murder mystery play and a Croatian chicken dinner as fundraisers for that effort.
The dinner and the play are a joint effort between the committee, the Knights of Columbus and the Peninsula Arts Appreciation Council.
The event will be on Saturday, October 6th at St. John the Evangelist Church’s K.D. Hall in Ishpeming.
Tickets are $15, with a roast beef dinner starting at 6:30 that night and the play following that.
The Lake Bancroft Committee says tickets are on sale until 12 noon on Wednesday, October 3rd at Ishpeming City Hall, the Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Chamber of Commerce, Consumers Building Supply, Stonehouse Window & Door, Johnson’s Snyder Drug and Elaine’s Place.
The Ishpeming Elks Club is also hosting a Croatian chicken dinner to help the Lake Bancroft restoration effort.
The dinner is on Saturday, October 20th from 1 to 4 pm at the club.
Half-chicken dinners cost $10 and quarter-chicken dinners are $7.
Tickets go on sale next Monday, October 1st through Tuesday, October 16th.
All of the businesses selling the dinner theater tickets will also be selling the Croatian chicken dinner tickets.
However, City Hall won’t have any of them; the club will have them instead.
