Eastern U.P. Power Outages
Today’s high winds have left more than a thousand people in the dark in the eastern U.P.
Cloverland Electric Co–Op is based in Dafter, in Chippewa County.
Company officials say about 1,100 of their customers are without power tonight.
Those customers are spread across many areas of Schoolcraft, Luce, Chippewa and Mackinac Counties.
The wind damage includes downed lines, trees on lines and broken poles.
Cloverland says repair crews are working non-stop to restore service, but because of the large affected area, power may not be restored in all locations until sometime tomorrow.
The company is asking everyone to stay away from downed power lines and to assume that any power line remains energized.
