NICE Community School Lunch Prices Increase
The NICE Community school board members held a regular board meeting today. A few final decisions were made for the upcoming school year.
Prices for the 2012–13 school lunch programs were discussed. A federal mandate is requiring all schools who have students that qualify for reduced lunches to increase the price for prepared meals. This increase will effect lunches for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Prices will increase to $2.40 per lunch; this is 10 cents higher than last year.
The school district understands that family budgets are tight. But, they had no choice but to raise lunch prices. The increase for lunch prices will not effect those students who receive free or reduced lunches. Breakfast prices will stay at last years price of $1.4o.
