Moyle Construction Responds to Strike

Moyle Construction of Atlantic Mine is responding to claims made by a small number of striking employees.

A demonstration was held yesterday in Houghton supported by union members.

The workers charge that Moyle has not directed tens of thousands of dollars of employee contributions into pension plans and 401K’s.

The company does not dispute that the pension plans are under funded.

There is a dispute that employee contributions were taken from paychecks but not allocated to retirement funds.

Helminen says the few employees participating in the strike do not represent the rest of the workforce and that there’s another motive behind all this.
