Beach Grooming Law Change
Managing and maintaining beaches for shoreline owners became easier as Governor Rick Synder signed a measure to remove previous state regulations on Tuesday.
Beach owners are now allowed to use mechanical equipment to help in cleaning, and grooming beaches.
The law had previously limited owners to hand tools only.
State Senator Tom Casperson was in marquette today to help explain the new law.
However – the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit district will still require permits of beach grooming activities in areas between the federal ordinary high water mark and the water’s edge.
