Houghton County Meth Suspects Named
There are now a total of four suspects involved in an alleged meth lab in Houghton County as the case involving a possible meth lab in Chassell continues to grow.
25-year-old Nicole Saatio of Chassell appeared in 97th District Court in Houghton County today.
She waived her preliminary exam and her attorney requested that her bond be reduced.
At issue was Saatio’s ability to spend time with her two children, ages 5 years and 16 months, who were placed in foster care after she was arrested. In the same arrest, the children’s father, 26-year-old Michael Newberry, was taken into custody earlier this month.
Saatio’s bond was reduced to ten percent of $10,000. Newberry waived his preliminary exam on Monday.
Both suspects are facing one felony count of Possession of Methamphetamines or Ecstasy and Manufacturing of Methamphetamines which carries penalties of up to 20 years in jail and fines of $25,000.
21-year-old Kendall Clifton of Hancock was arraigned today on the same charges in relation to the same meth lab.
His bond was set for ten percent of $500,000.
A preliminary exam was scheduled in two weeks.
A fourth suspect, 22-year-old Kurtis Stough, is currently lodged in the Marquette County Jail.
The investigation is still ongoing.
