Marquette man killed in Detroit
The Marquette Police Department reports that a Marquette man is the victim of a homicide in Detroit.
He has been identified as 21 year old Antone Ramos.
The Marquette Police Department was contacted July 12th by the Detroit Police Department regarding a homicide investigation in Detroit.
Detroit P-D was dispatched July 12 at approximately 2:20pm to an abandoned apartment building in the 1400 block of Webb Street on the report of a deceased individual found inside. The investigation found that the deceased had been the victim of a murder and his identity was unknown at the time.
During the investigation, a pickup truck was found parked in the area of the crime scene. The truck was registered to a Marquette resident. Police say Ramos had borrowed the truck from a friend in Marquette sometime on July 11th or early on July 12th.
Marquette police attempted to contact the owner of the truck. There was a delay in getting in touch with the owner of the vehicle due to the owner being out of the area and out of cell phone range.
On Sunday July 15th , Marquette police made contact with the owner of the truck and learned the name of the possible victim.
On Monday, July 16, the victim’s family identified him.
The Marquette Police Department is currently working with the Detroit P-D Homicide Unit in this investigation.
